Data analytics
It refers to the process of examining a sets of data to draw conclusions about the total information they contain. It helps as to evaluate a raw data and uncover its patterns and to seperate its valuable insights from it.
Examples
1) Patients Predictions For An Better Staffing arrangement
It is a classic problem that any shift manager faces. It includes the calculation of number of people in a shift and their working time .If we add a large number of workers, there is a risk of having increase in labor costs .If there are only few workers, then it will lead to poor customer service outcomes tha can be fatal for patients in that organisation.
Limitations
Difficulty in evaluating doctors and staff performance. So that we cannot balance the staff according to the needs .
2) Real-Time Alerting
It is a crucial function in health care system. In hospitals, Clinical Decision Support (CDS) software analyzes ,the prescription and the medical records on the spot, which helps medical practitioners to make prescriptive decisions.
For example, if a patient’s blood pressure increases suddenly ,the system will send an alert in real time to the doctor so that he can reach the patient and administer mediccations to lower the pressure.
Limitation - it is limited only for some disease conditions only
3)Prevent Opioid Abuse
It helps to fight against opioids abuse .This method was greatly employed in US in oder to reduce the opioid abuse .The overdoses from misused opioids have caused large number of accidental death in U.S
Limitation - It requires a continuous flow of patients data.
Electronic health records (ehrs)
It is the foundationof data collection in medicine. every patient possess their own digital data which includes demographics, medical history, allergies, laboratory test results etc. these records are shared via safe information systems and are available to both public and private sector. eac data consist of one modifiable file, so that that doctors can insert changes from time to time. there is no need for paperwork and no threat of data duplication .
