Why do African Americans have more cancer rates and deaths?
American society is largely stratified into various categories such as, race, religion, culture, socio-economic status etc. This would mean that while the society is dominated by the white people who have the accumulated advantage which helps them have an upper hand in education, employment, housing, healthcare, property, political power etc. while people of color, especially, the African American community. This would mean that lack access to resources have left them unemployed, uneducated and poverty. Lack of access to healthcare is one of the most important reasons for the increase in the number of cancer patients in the Black community. Another major reasons for the rise in the cancer count is because of the expensive healthcare system and the inability of the government to provide comprehensive healthcare to people who live in poverty.
