Define and describe the following five concepts with at least 3 sentences: Title IX, established gender ideology, gender and fairness issues sports, trivialization of women's sports, and strategies to achieve gender equity
All these concepts are related to gender equality, non discrimination and their equal treatment in every sphere of work, irrespective of their genders. Following have been described as under:
Title IX: it refers to a federal civil rights law which was passed under the Education Amendments Act of 1972. According to this law the people cannot discriminate anyone on the basis of sex in various education programs imparted. It protects the people from being discriminated by anyone, as this act aims at spreading the culture of equal education to all.
Established gender ideology: it refers to the pre defined set beliefs and trusts in the society regarding the various roles which are to be fulfilled by males and females separately. It means that both the genders are supposed to work accordingly to fulfill their defined roles. For example: females are supposed to take care of home, children and males are supposed to earn for the family.
Gender and fairness issues sports: it refers to the gender equality and fairness while playing any kind of sport. It means that both the genders should be given equal chance in every kind of sport and cannot be discriminated on the basis of gender roles. This will increase discipline, fairness and teamwork within the teams and thus resulting into long term survival.
Trivialization of women's sports: trivializing someone or something refers to decreasing the importance of it and making it less worthy and important as it really is. Trivializing women's sport would mean decreasing the quality of women sports and discriminating women and treating them as less important. It decreases the worth of that particular sport and harms the female dignity as it focuses mainly of gender inequality.
Strategies to achieve gender equity: it refers to treating both males and females equally and not discriminating them on the basis of their gender. It means treating everyone equally as per their respective needs and both the genders should be given equal rights, equal benefits in workplace, equal set of opportunities and also equal accountability for their actions.
