The epidemiologic paradox is also known as the Hispanic paradox or Latino paradox.
It is based on the epidemiological researchers and findings that Latin American and Hispanic people are more healthier than non-Hispanic white American besides their socioeconomic status in the society. surveys showed that mortality rate of Latin American and Hispanic community is low as compared to white counterparts.
Kyriakos Markides coined the term Hispanic epidemiological paradox in 1986.
There is two main theory that provides the explanation of this paradox.
• The first theory suggests that it may occur due to the migration of sick Hispanic people to their homeland before coming to death and new young and healthy immigrant replaces them.
• Another theory suggests that Hispanic people have the slower ageing rate as compared to white American people.
