What is transformational leadership? Give examples of organizational situations that would call for transformation, transactional, and charismatic leadership.
Transformational leadership: A transformational leadership is described as the one where the leader believes in transforming the company as well as the employees. He motivates employees to come out of their comfort zone and achieve something big for themselves as well as for the company. It is one of the most preferred and loved leadership styles.
Situation example where transformation leadership would be needed:
When an organization needs to undergo a change or has recently introduced some changes, transformational leadership would be most suited. It is because the leaders can encourage the employees to come out of their comfort and prove themselves once again. It would be a transformation of not only the company but also of the employees.
Situation example where transactional leadership would be needed:
It is most suitable when the leader would be required to deal with the employees at the transactional level. The leader would set the goals and rewards for the employees. He would establish clear roles and responsibilities and motivate employees to achieve those goals by introducing them with rewards.
Situation example where charismatic leadership would be needed:
It is most suitable when it would require a deeper emotional connection with the employees. For example when employees have to deal with a tough time or task. The leader would develop a deeper connection with the employees and would lead them toward the goals.
