If we are a manager at a large fulfillment center, say for Amazon FBA, what can we do to reduce the dimensional weight of the order we pick, pack, and ship? What should we do when we receive an order from a person for a coffee mug and an umbrella?
If we are a manager at a large fulfillment center, say for Amazon FBA, in order to reduce the dimensional weight of the order we pick, pack, and ship, we can pack multiple orders in a single package, i.e a common carton or cardboard packaging can be used for orders belonging to a particular area or region so that shipping costs are also reduced and dimensional weight is also reduced since common packaging is used for multiple products. At the time of delivery, the common packaging can be removed and plastic wrapped inner packaged products can be delivered to the customers. This will result in significant saving in cost and reduce dimensional weight as well.
When we receive an order from a person for a coffee mug and an umbrella, we should use the above strategy only and pack both the items together in a single cardboard packaging which will reduce the dimensional weight and reduce shipment cost as well.
