Steve Jobs once famously responded when asked what his strategy was to reposition Apple, by saying “I’m going to wait for the next big thing”. Explain what level of strategy Jobs was operating at and why.
Answer: All of us aware of the focus of Apple on the innovation and innovation was to the key to a successful business trategy and building up the competitive advantage. There are three major levels of strategy as below:
Corporate level strategy: At this strategic level we build the strategy for the orgnizations vision. As what organization is built to achieve.
Business level strategy: At this strategic level the decisions are taken about the survival of the business and creating the competitive advantage.
Functional or market level strategy: At this strategic level, the strategy is made for growth and maintaining the competitive advantage.
In the statemnt of Steve “I’m going to wait for the next big thing” was a clear indication of innovation in progress to built a product, which will give them entry into the market and Apple will get its competitive advanatge based on innovation.
Therefore, we can say that Steve Jobs was operating at business level strategy to gain the competitive advantage.
