What are the oxygen requirement and optimal growth temperature for

  1. Bordetella,
  2. Clostridium,
  3. Escherichia,
  4. Staphylococcus,
  5. Streptococcus

Solutions

Expert Solution

Ans 1. Bordetella pertussis, is a pathogen of human that will surround itself around the respiratory tract.
Oxygen requirement- This bacteria needs oxygen to grow thus an aerobic bacteria.
Optimum Temperature- It is a mesophilic bacteria, that grows in the normal temperature it can survive in moderate conditions. Like optimal temperature required by Bordetella is 35 Degree Celsius.

2. Clostridium:
Oxygen Requirement: it grows in the absence of oxygen. Thus, it is an anaerobe.
Optimum Temperature: it requires a temperature of 33 Degree Celsius to 37 Degree Celsius.

3. Escherichia Coli:
Oxygen Requirement: it is generally a facultative aerobe.
Optimal Temperature. E. Coli grows at optimum temperature of 37 Degree Celsius.

4. Staphylococcus: a gram psitive bacterria.
Oxygen Requirement: It is gram psitive bacteria. So, require oxygen rich condition and is termed as aerobic.
Optimal Temperature. Staphylococcus grows at optimum temperature of 37 degree celsuis.

5. Streptococcus:
Oxygen Requirement: Some species grow in the presence of oxygen and are termed ad aerobic. Whereas, some species that does not reqiire oxygen comes into play and is termed as anaerbobe.
Optimal Temperature: The normal optimal temperature is 37 Degree Celsius.
