North America is present in the Northern Hemisphere and South America is present on the lower side of this country called as southern hemisphere.Both are considered to be continents. North America has a large size and is the third largest continent whereas South America is smaller in size as it is the fourth largest continent. In terms of population, North America is the fourth largest continent whereas South America has the fifth largest population. The population size of North America is 529 million people which is divided into 23 states. South America has the fifth largest population with a size of 371 million people and composed of 12 countries.North America is an inhabitation of Paleo-indians people in 18,000BC and South America was settled by the same population people. North America was colonized by Britain whereas South America was inhabited by the spanish people.
