The New Jim Crow can be seen as the exception account of the development of the caste look-like system in the USA which resulted in the imprisonment of millions of African Americans and then classified as the permanent second-class citizens denying all the rights that were won during the Civil Right Movement. The punitive criminal justice system along with the so-called war on the drugs has particularly targeted the black citizens of the USA and it resulted in the snatching of all the rights which were given to these people.
This concept has really shaken me a lot as it indicates as to how the criminal system and society can take over a certain segment of the society just because they belong to a certain ethnicity or background. Although the community of the USA can take pride to elect the First Black President in the form of Barak Obama, yet there are many black ethnic individuals who are having discrimination in all walks of life and even the criminal justice system has been very strict and partial towards them.
This discrimination can be seen in education, job, property rights and one can continue to count. In fact, the racial caste system of the USA was never rooted out, in fact, it was just redesigned under many layers.
