1). Ethnology

• It is a branch of anthropology that study the characteristics of different peoples and analyze the differences and relationships between them.
• It compares and contrast various cultures and helps in identifying the distinctive features of various cultures.

2). Jim Crow

• A racial cast sytem operating primarily in the southern and northern border states of U.S. during period of late 19th and early 20th centuries.
• This law results in the racial segregation in the southern states of U.S.A. with the purpose of disfrenchising black people and remove any political or economical gains made during reconstruction period by blakcs.

3). Lynch

• A punishment to a person by a mob for some supposed crime, without proper evidence, by hanging without giving a proper trial.
• It is a type of an extrajudicial execution that is carried out by a mob, which can be done by any method of execution such as hanging or beating to death.
• Such type of executions are carried out when an angry mob believes that the person is responsible for alleged crime.

4). N.A.A.C.P.

• The National Assocition for the Advancement of Colored People (N.A.A.C.P.) is a U.S.A based civil rights organization fighting for racial justice.
• It is a bi-racial endeavor which stands for the justices for African Americans and was formed as a result of Springfield'e Race Riot of 1908.
• It's purpose is to ensure equal political, educational, social and economical rights to every person and elimination of racial discrimination.

5). Niagara Movement

• It was a civil rights organization of U.S.A which was founded in 1905 near Niagra falls because of which it got this name.
• It was the predecessor orgaization of N.A.A.C.P and the name of the organization reflected the 'mighty current' of change wanted by the civil rights activists to effect.
• Main purpose of this organization was to stand for civil rights and oppose the political docility and accomodationist ideas of prominant black leaders of that time

7). Social Darwinism

• It is a theory which predicts that individuals, groups and people can also be affected by the same Darwinian natural selection laws as animals and plants.
• Supporters of this theory believe in the survival of fittest and often think that some people become powerful in society as they are better from the birth.
• Thus, according to this theory, there was diminution of weaks and their culture, whereas strong grew in power and their culture supressed that of the weaks.

8). The Philadelphia Negro

• It was a sociological study which carried out the first in-depth analysis of black community in U.S.A. and was published in 1899.
• Du Bois addressed the way the Seventh Ward was looked at with the intent of identifying black communities social problems.
