Noise and distortion

What is noise and distortion in control system how they differ from each other.and waht is the affect of disturbance on plant/system.

Solutions

Expert Solution

Disturbance which arises in system outside the system is called noise, while disturbance which arises in system inside the system is called distotion. The affect of disturbance associated with a system or plant can only be removed from the final output, disturbance associated with other parts still continues which can not be eliminated. Therefore a system can reach to steady state with 100% output only at t = infinity.

Noise arises outside the system.

Distortion arises inside the system.

In rats, a loud noise can provoke a startle response. With repeated loud noise stimuli, the rat will stop displaying a startle response. However, if the rat is given a different noise stimulus followed be the original loud noise, it will show the startle response again. This is an example of learning and, to a lesser extent, memory. Suppose jobs vary along two dimensions: wages and noise and that all workers dislike noise but vary in their distaste for it. Assume that the combinations of wages and noise for which firms’ profits are zero are given by the equation W = 5 + .1N (for 0?N?100) where W is the wage in dollars per hour and N is the noise the worker is subjected to, in decibels. Also, assume at the jobsite of any firm that spends nothing...
