The Couples Types are:
1. Independent
2. Separates
3. Traditional
Some couples tend to be a mixture of some of the above types.
Examine three couples you know. Giving examples – explain how the couples fit into or do not fit into the couples types. When you find a mixture of couples types make note of it in your work.

The Couples Types are:
1. Independent: My
friend Sam and his wife Carolina are independents. They fit into
this type because they value both connection and personal
autonomy. They actively discuss many aspects of their relationship
and hold nontraditional beliefs about relationships. They actively
engage in conflict over minor and major issues.
2. Separates: My Newyork's Uncle and Aunt are
separates. They fit into this type because they are not
interdependent and avoid interaction, particularly conflict. They
generally withdraw or give in during early stages of conflict
because active engagement in conflict involves interaction and a
degree of interdependence.
3. Traditional: Mr. & Mrs. Williams are traditional couples living in my locality. They fit into this type because they both are highly interdependent and emphasize doing things together versus autonomously. They also tend not to argue over petty issues.
When you find a mixture of couples types make note of it in your work.
Typically my father and mother are mixture of couple types. They are both traditionals and independents. Sometimes they do things together and sometimes they believe in autonomy.
