The brain is able to function due to its many components or parts. Each part is unique in its function. At the same time, different parts of the brain work together to facilitate overall brain function.
Identify a minimum of three parts of the brain and provide an example of how each can affect bodily functioning and behavior.
Three parts of the brain and their function and way of affecting behavior are as follows:-
(1). Cerebrum :- it is one of the major parts of the human brain. It is found in the upper portion of carnial cavity, that is in the top part of the skull. This is divided into two hemispheres. The left hemisphere controls right part of the body while the right hemisphere controls the left part of the body. The two hemispheres are connected with the neural fibers which are called corpus callosum. These neural fibers helps the two hemispheres communicate with each other. Cerebrum has four parts which have their own functions. The occipital lobe processes visual information. Two temporal lobes which are near each ear is involved in hearing, emotions, learning any new language or just learning. The frontal lobe is responsible for personality traits and help perform complex tasks and do voluntary movements etc. The perital lobe is involved in sensations and feelings.
(2). Cerebellum :- this is also a major part of human brain. Cerebellum is involved in mortar controls, such as postures, balance, fluent speech, and other muscular activities.
(3). Medulla:- this is a very important part of the brain. It is involved in breathing, blood pressure control, heart functions and digestion processes. This part basically controls automatic bodily functions. This also controls involuntarily actions like, sneeze, vomiting, etc.
On a whole every part of the brain and the body co-ordinates together to perform different bodily functioning and behavior.
