Parenting style is a concept that represents the way parents bring-up, discipline, care and attend to their children. There are four common parenting styles such as Authoritarian, Permissive, Uninvolved and Authoritative.
Authoritarian style parenting is a strict way of bringing up children with high expectations. This style of parenting over discipline the children and administer punishments most of the time. This type of parenting, although discipline the adolescents, it do not give any choices or freedom in choosing their options in life. Over disciplining will only produce adolescents who are dependent or rebellious.
Authoritative parenting style nurtures the children well. Although discipline is expected, the rules are explained and communicated well. High expectations are set but the reasons for the high expectations are also explained properly. Parents are very supportive and provide enough choices for the children to choose. Adolescents who are brought up in this parenting style grow as independent but at the same time expect someone to guide them. They will struggle in an unorganized set-up.
