The organisation reviews the current system and procedures in order to see that how the things are flowing in the company from a financial perspective. The reviews are also done in order to determine their actual level of performance against that required and to decide on any action that needs to be taken as a result. In an average business more than 50 to 90% of the day is wasted due to the placing of inefficient processes in an organisation . By carrying out a process review , it enables you to make improvements and make them more efficient & effective with less time wasted on invaluable work. The process review should deliver an understanding of what that process is giving you.

Flowcharts are most used when investigating the current situation as is feedback from customers or through other mechanisms such as surveys or the like. 'Cause and effect diagrams' are then used to identify the possible causes for difficulties in the current process.

The documentation of the current systems and processes are most likely to be examined as part of the review. It is an internal, ongoing documentation of the process while it is occurring. Documentation cares more about the “how” of implementation than the “what” of process impact.
