An organization, as the name suggests is an organized entity of people who work for a common goal or particular cause. It is a structured framework in which each person working has fixed duties and responsibilities. The organization can be quite large employing thousands of people or it can be as small as a group of 5-10 people. An organization to properly function, maintain, control and manage various people and activities of the organization, it is divided into smaller management group of people assigned various roles and tasks differing from team to team. There are teams of employees who are core workers or at the lowest level of the organization hierarchy. To quantify the work, manage these workers, to control quality and errors, to provide support and guidance, to manage their compensation, there are teams of Human Resources, Administration, Management, Procurement, etc.
For instance, take the example of a defence organization. There are a group of army men who ensure defence from threats and actually fights from enemies. But to control, lead, inspire and manage, there is always a requirement of a person who has more experience, capabilities, skills and understanding of the the field. Without managers, there will be chaos, conflicts, lack of coordination, delay in work, etc. among the group of employees. Therefore, such persons are called managers of an organization. These people manage a small team of people, to align their work with the main objective and purpose of the organization.
