How is the court affected by the coronavirus? (I need at least 2 paragraphs that make sense to respond to this)
If sources were used please provide me the link!! THANK YOU
As part of the emergency steps taken in response to the outbreak of coronavirus, several courts around the world were forced to shut down or find new forms of functioning.
In the UK , for example, there has been a decrease in the number of courts available to the public, but courts are still dealing with the most important proceedings, including some custody hearing. The highest court in France has suspended most of the non-essential cases but continues to hear urgent criminal matters, including extradition. Italy's judicial system has shut down, with the Supreme Court suspending its operations under the broader coronavirus shutdown of the government.
Many countries reduce the impact of court closures by using technology to replace the conventional court sessions, including electronic courts. In the United Kingdom, the Supreme Court for the first time in its history is conducting entire cases by video connection, while in India courts have not fully closed, but hearings have slowly moved to electronic trials. The approach adopted in the US varies from one State to another. New York state chief judge Judge DiFiore declared all non-essential court activities were postponed and introduced a virtual court system.
