Child between 6-12 is considered as school age. During the school age children become capable and responsible for self care activity. By age of 7 years child is capable of assuming responsibiliy of dental care.so teach proper dental care.They are capable of logical reasoning. They should be included in the patient education process whenever possible, and especially before procedures that affect them. Explain procedures, as well as the reasons for them, in a simple, logical way, and with confidence and optimism.Coming to nutrition,school-age children (ages 6 to 12) need healthy foods and nutritious snacks. They have a consistent but slow rate of growth and usually eat four to five times a day (including snacks). Many food habits, likes, and dislikes are established during this time.so parents should take care of the diet.sleep and rest is essential during these years so parents should be alert that child get adequate sleep has during this age they fears in form of night mares and tight terrors.Activities also be given to improve physical strength,parents should teach rules of safety to prevent accidents and also encourage in sports.Finally,sex education should be given as by puberty there will be physical changes.Also Educate regarding ill effects of smoking ,alchol and drugs as child will have peer pressure in older school age.
