4. Leadership burnout takes place when leaders feels demotivated to work and eventually their productivity decrease. A decreased sense of satisfaction and accomplishment in the workplace, and a sense of failure will cause a mental exhaustion of the individual and demotivate them to work. The common signs are - feeling detached, depressed, defeated, loss of motivation, negative outlook and self doubt, etc.

We can better support leaders and prevent burnout by

  • Focus on leadership development
  • Improving leadership and evaluation skills
  • Managers should encourage and connect to a personal level with the individuals
  • The leaders should be given paid leaves and holidays to rejuvenate their mind

It relates to mental hygiene because it takes a mental toll on the leaders. The demotivation faced in the worksphere can sometimes make the leaders mentally exhausted and might be stressful for not just the leaders but people around them also.
