Martin, the director of HR at Austin Designs, is meeting with the career development team. The firm's CEO has decided that the company needs to invest the time and effort into improving the direction and development phases of the current career development program; however, development funds are limited. The CEO and most of the executive management team are self-made professionals who believe strongly in individual responsibility. The organizational structure of Austin Designs is very flat. The company has a wide variety of jobs but few levels of high responsibility. Feedback from employees suggests that they don't know when promotional opportunities are available. 1. Answer the following questions: A. What would be best directional tool for addressing the employees' complaint? Justify your answer.
A. I suggest the company must implement employee development program. This would enable employees to develop their skills and gain higher knowledge about their work. Also, promote employee empowerment. This will enable the employees to take responsibilities with respect to their work as well as boost their moral confidence. Further, the organization must design performance management system . Such a system must boost employees who perform exceptionally high and award them with rewards, incentives, promotions and termed fit for their performance. The low performers must be trained and guided such that they are able to gain more knowledge and strengthen their skill sets.
As for the awareness about available vacancies, there must be a communication mechanism effective for internal recruiting. The available positions must be advertised and employees must be e-mailed the availability and given an opportunity to apply for the position. This would resolve the employee complaints in the same regard.
