AWS KMS also knows as Amazon Web Services Key Management System is a really useful and easy to use service that can be used by any user to control, create and manage CMKs or Control Master Keys which are encryption keys for a user's data. A Cloud Customer should use AWS KMS specifically because of the high level of protection that is provided to CMKs through AWS KMS. Encryption of a user's data adds an extra layer of protection and AWS KMS provides creation and management of customer master keys which can be used in cryptographic operations. This allows encryption and decryption of data thus helping in securing data over the cloud. AWS KMS also provides flexibility to the customer by giving the user control over who can access their customer master keys and see the encrypted data. This allows the customer to decide who can access their data and whi cannot. While working with a bunch of people a customer using AWS KMS can know and monitor all the information about when the customer master keys were used and by whom. All of these paired with a an efficient and flexible pricing system, makes AWS KMS a great choice for any cloud customer to protect and encrypt their data at the highest level.
