Explain the different type of Intellectual Property. How can you protect Intellectual property? And How can monitor intellectual property infringement?
Types of intellectual property are -
1. Patent
2. Copyright
3. Trade Mark
4. Trade Secret
1. Patent
A patent is used to protect innovative ideas or processes. New discoveries, newly engineered plant species etc can be protected by patent.
2. Trademark
A trademark protects words, phrases, symbols, sounds, smells and color schemes.
Trademark describe or otherwise identify the source of underlying products or services.
3. Copyright
Copyright protects the manner in which ideas are expressed. Written works, art, music, architectural drawings, or even programming code for software can be protected using a copyright.
4. Trade secret
Proprietary procedures, systems, devices, formulas, strategies or other information that is confidential and exclusive comes under the category of Trade secret.
You can protect intellectual property through registration with appropriate authorities.
Intellectual property infringement -
Intellectual property infringement can be monitor by researching previous or new IP through magazines, websites etc.
Monitoring can be done by
(1) using proactive detection measures
Marking intellectual property in a unique way so if it is ever used by someone else it will get traced.
2) checking relevant channels
You can also constantly checking websites of your competitors. Also the new products services and techniques arriving the market.
