difference between International& Local Managers A manager is a person who is responsible for a part of an organization, he maybe in charge of a department and people who work in it. Manager exercises managerial functions primarily.
Airbnb is one of the most global among Silicon Valley's mega-unicorns. With bedrooms and homes in 190 countries and 34,000 cities around the globe. A very ambitious company who believes that they need build market globally and locally at the same time. The primary problem that come along with this is global – local gap which needs to bridged. This where managers come in , International managers to look upon global market and local or domestic managers to plan and fix local market for achieving the objectives of Airbnb.
Work of local manager are restricted inside a particular country. They are required to frame strategies for promoting and growing inside a region. Different regions have different socio economic conditions thus strategies are working need to framed accordingly . Compared to internal managers the work of a local manager are less complicated as their field of work is small so that market research, analysis are less complicated.
Local managers are of great importance for a company like Airbnb as they are focusing very much on local level.
International manager focus on entire region and it is much larger than local market covering all of companies market and they are involved in taking corporate strategies for all market. Local managers work on these basis. They have keep close eyes on changing market trends and technological changes as well.
The keys lies in keeping a balance between local and international mangers so that overall growth of company is not hindered.
There is paradigm of shift happening in the leadership style it has transformed from a traditional model to a far more progressive model. Traditional leadership is a top-down style of leadership. Leader had power and authority over those who were below him . These leaders often ruled with compulsion, force, control, secrecy.
Alternative to traditional leadership is The New Leadership Paradigm it is more of a democratic kind of leadership that respect and values sharing, collaboration, and service over the old values of exclusion, control, and self-interest. These type of leadership seeks to abolish class system that traditional leadership upheld. Everyone regardless of rank or position are required to follow same rules, doing things and similar paying system. With change of consumer demand all the change in style of leadership was very essential .
