Question 3:

David's Oath of the Horatii is related to Enlightenment thought and Classical art because it is undoubtedly one of David's most famous and prized works, quickly becoming the face of the French Revolution and the symbol of patriotism. It focuses on the aspect that one should be guided by patriotic feelings, not personal feelings about family. It is related to neoclassical aspects of art such as stoicism, self-sacrifice, duty, patriotism, gravitas, action and reason.

Question4:

Turner's painting evokes the concept of sublime in sense that this painting refers to 'the aesthetic of immeasurable greatness.' The painting is awe-inspiring and beautiful, but also terrifying in its power or potential darkness.
