As we know there are a number of theories in the media . The three most important ones are mentioned below.

Magic Bullet theory- According to this theory the message or information given by the media to the audience acts like a bullet or a hyper needle which injects itself in the minds of viewers similar to a bullet or needle enters the flesh . It has a very powerful effect on the mind and thinking of individuals .

Limited effect theory - This theory states that the effect of media on the audience is very limited in nature . It is opposite to the magic bullet theory . The effect of media depends on how the viewers or audience are perceiving the information to the news .

Cultivation theory - According to this theory media acts as a cultivator and cultivates the minds of the viewers. Individuals start to perceive the world around them according to what is shown by the media or television .For example media showing too much violent content makes the viewers believe that world has become too much violent

There are two more important theories

Agenda setting - This theory says that there are three different types of agendas present in the system .It is also related to the powerful effect of the media .These agendas are media agenda , public agenda ,policy agenda .There are linked together . It also says that after a time interval the media agenda transforms into a public agenda .

Framing theory - This theory says that the media is focused on some specific issues and then makes an exclusive area for them.Then it creates a world in the mind of viewers and acts as a second agenda .
