Acute abdominal pain can be due to plethora of conditions from benign and self limited disese to surgical emergencies.There are some criteria sto assess the patient with abdominal pain to find out a final diagnosis.

HISTORY - The physician must try to collect the history of the patient for getting accurate diagnosis.The history should include a complete description of patient's pain,and assosisted symptoms.Mediccal and surgical history are also importanat informations.

Assessment of pain.

pain must be assessed by

P3- position ,palliating and provoking factors.

Q -Quality of pain

R3- Region,radiation,referal.

S-Severity

T3- Temporal factors,with time and mode of onset ,progression and previous episode.

ASSESSMENT OF THE ASSOSIATED SYPTOMS- Anorexia,vomitting,bowel symptoms,genitourinary symptoms.

PAST MEDICAL AND SURGICAL HISTORY-

SOCIAL HISTORY

PHYSICAL EXAMINATION- The general apperance is noted first,position,spontaneous movements ,respiratory pattern and facial expression are noted.

VITAL SIGNS- Vital signs abnormalities sholud later the physician to a serious cause of teh abdominal pain.

ABDOMINAL EXAMINATION.- It can be done by inspection,asuculatation ,and palpation.

Inspection- For the ciolour,skin rashes, abdominal distension.
