Why do you think it is important to communicate to employees who
survived a company wide Layoff and what do you think is the most
important thing to communicate to surviving employees?
Laying off is a removal technique used by any organisation in which a large no. of people are removed from the organisation because either the costs are going to high or the company is going into failure. It is very important for the organisation to maintain healthy communication with the employees who have survived because of the following reasons:
1. Fear: When we remove people by laying off, a lot of surviving employees develop a fear in their minds that they would be the next one and thus become demotivated for their work. It is to make sure to communicate motivation and effective leadership to the employees and make them adapt to changes anyhow.
2. Performance: The motivation level when turns down affects the performance level of the employees as well. They work in fear and the result is devastating in their performance. Thus, managers have to communicate in such a manner where the performance remains stable and increasing thereby.
3. Growth: A company going into losses when chooses laying off is at a very sensitive stage. The name in the market is going down as well as the profits. Thus, the communication should be done in such a manner where the growth is achievable and employees understand the organisation goal to be completed.
