In the contemporary world, consciousness refers to the state of being aware of the emotions and feelings or any external phenomenon taking place in the surrounding.
Yes, animals also have consciousness and they are conscious like human beings and they are aware of the things happening in their surrounding. Animals are also aware of the external object ns animals also experience all types o emotions as human beings do.
I know I am conscious of being because human beings like me are aware of the memories, feelings and they can feel emotions. The behavior and appearance help us to depict that we feel the consciousness and it was experienced that we lose consciousness when we are asleep. In order to know others have consciousness or not, one can examine by examining the awareness level and one's wakefulness.
It can be concluded that both human beings and animals have consciousness and it can help to understand the different levels of consciousness.
Definition of consciousness: It refers to the awareness of perception of something or its own existence.
