which department is the botteleneck :

empty white boxes refers to idle time of  machines

so for machine A idle time is = 9

for machine B idle time is = 8

for machine C idle time is = 7

hence machine A is botteleneck

calculating machine utilization :

formule = total processing time / total hours ) * 100

* total processing time = total hours - total idle time

* total hours = no of hours * number of machines

  

by grant chart we get toknow that no of hours = 18

no of machines = 3

* total hours = 18 * 3

= 54 hours

* total idle time = 9 + 8 + 7

= 24

now total processing time = 54 -24 = 30 HOURS

FINALLY MACHINE UTILIZATION = ( TOTAL PROCESSING TIME / TOTAL HOURS ) * 100

= ( 30 / 54 ) *100

= 55 %
