Three different types of situational leadership are as below-
Telling And Directing
This is the leadership style in which the leader makes the decision and communicate this decision to the others in the firm This is a top-down approach of the leadership and the employees have to follow the instructions provided by the leader. This style is used where the followers are inexperienced
Selling And Coaching
With the selling and coaching style of leadership, the leader is still very involved in the day-to-day activities. The decisions still ultimately lie with the leader, however, the input is requested from the employees before the decision is implemented. This is the leadership style in which the opinions are taken from the employees about a certain issue and the leader takes the final decision after consulting all the associated members. The supervision of the employee is done in a coaching manner rather than a supervisory manner. This type of leadership can be good with that individual who has a lack of experience and looking to learn
Participating And Supporting
There is a greater accountability of the employers or followers. The direction is provided by the leader but the decision is made by the followers. The leader has the task of motivating and supporting the followers. This is useful in situations where the followers are experienced.
