Well as we know quality circle has proved to be a great tool in terms of enhancing the production qualities of goods and providing best services to the partners , clients and customers.

From India perspective, the origin of this concept, the implementation and the methodology began in late 19th Century.

The need was changing and the focus shifted towards providing better quality of products and post sale services. It required some tool to have a regular check on quality and suggest measures to improve it and at the same time find out areas of improvements. The quality circle was then implemented in some of the big Indian companies like Bharat Electronics Limited, Tata, Reliance Industries, TELCO etc. It achieved a big success there. If we look at the facts , BHEL Hyderabad was the first to start quality circle. After the success, Quality Circle Forum of India was founded.

It resulted in producing better quality of products, taking prevention measures, finding out problem with in a process and proposing solutions.

It was a time when Indian economy was shaping up and being a developing country it helped India on a large scale which includes new players in the market using quality circle as tool to improve quality and produce better results. This played a crucial role in developing the economy and a great customer satisfaction was observed. Now at present situation if we compare the scale at which it is implemented, the classic example is of BHEL. Therr are more than 1000 quality circle and 30% employees are covered by quality circle.

From economy point of view, this proved to be a boost in the manufacturing industry at first and then at the service industry as well. Remember in 19th century India was going through a transformation and making key policy decisions such as the one called 'Open Door Policy' to attract foreign investments and revamp the overall model and approch towards the economy of Indian government.

The technique of quality circle was then implemented in many sectors such as clothes, Cotton, Electronics, as well as automobile industry. It resulted as a great tool of quality management. It gave better results all accross and certainly the quality was given the utmost priority. Government took initiatives to create an institution called Quality Circle Forum of India and started doing awareness programme and made rules and regulations and standard policies in this regard. India as a developing country and a developing economy achieved a lot which helped and encouraged them further to implement other techniques such as six sigma, TQM as well to achieve the greater output and great success with Increased efficiency and productivity.

Thanks, hope it helps!
