Performance management is the systematic process by which an employer involves its employees, as individuals and members of a group, in improving organizational effectiveness in the accomplishment of the company’s mission and goals. Based on your experience, along with information in the chapter, describe what are some of the best practices for conducting successful performance appraisals with employees.
It is true that performance management is one of the most effective technique in which an employer tries to have a proper management and relationship established to have a full review on the performance level of the employee to generate better results. The ways and the best practices in which performance management could be implemented in a more effective way could be:
1. Planning accordingly: The best way to make any process or action in the management go as according to the standards are the way to plan things out. What would be the resources you'll include, the activities you'll conduct, the techniques and standards you have to achieve and the way you'll measure the performance; every aspect of the performance management function should be analysed and planned accordingly beforehard to generate better results.
2. Communicate Effectively: The next step is to communicate. Communication in itself is a very broad term and comprises everything that is need to be told to the people who are the part of the project. The training, development, motivation, leadership and influence you provide to make them understand the importance and the actions of the project to technically and operationally make it worth performing, makes the project management a better one.
3. Tracking and Controlling: At last, last step would be the tracking and the controlling. All the actions now further performed after you have communicated all the relevant actions are need to be checked and regulated that if the actual work performed is according to the standards or not. The actual work is measured by the methods set in the planning and the result is compared with the standards to see how effective the management is going with the project.
