ENVIRONEMNTAL RACISM
Environmental racism is an inappropriate impact of environmental hazards on people of different colour tone or shades. It allude to rules, regulations, policies or government decision which consciously targets specific communities for locally unaccepted land used and lax implementation of zoning and environmental laws, resulting in communities unethically exposed to toxic waste based upon race, skin tone and culture. It is generally caused by several reasons, including intended neglect, the ostensible need for a repository for pollutants in urban areas, and a crisis of institutional power and low land values of people of colour tone. It is a well established fact that communities of deviated or different colour shades and low-income communities are inappropriately strike by polluting industries and lax regulation of these industries.
Environmental racism mainly exert influence on impoverished section by creating toxic chemicals that invade surrounding land, air, and water used for drinking, cooking and necessary things needed for being alive. The racism side is because the communities on which toxic chemicals are dump are situated around made up of mainly African and Latin Americans.
Environmental justice has extended themselves beyond the scope of conservation and preservation of natural resources. Environmental racism is duly a concerned of environmental justice as because it is related to environment. It promotes economic and social justice by recognizing the direct chain between economic, environmental and health matter and challenging a safe, clean community and workplace surrounding. It refers to those cultural norms and values, where all people can acquire confidence that their community and natural environment is safe. When all people tend to know their potential without being interrupted by environmental racism or inequity. It is one in which both cultural and biotic assortments are admired and where there is identical access to organization and lot of resources to grow and flourish.
