Consider the example of a mobile banking IT service that you may routinely use on your smart phone. Assume the bank is considering a possible change to this service that introduces a new feature or perhaps provides and/or requires additional information when processing an existing transaction. How might this proposed service change be viewed in the context of ITIL Guiding principles?

Solutions

Expert Solution

Well according to the ITIL guiding principles, here are some things that we should take into consideration.

  • The Focus of the value for this change is to the point and it is always nice to have as much as detailed information when processing an existing transaction.
  • Instead of making everything from scratch, they are building this feature over an existing feature. Hence, this is a good practice according to ITIL guiding principles.
  • As time passes and the bank collects feedback for the proposed change, this is going to be more beneficial for customer in the end. The market is very dynamic and we should change with it.
  • By the explanation provided, the change looks simple and it is practical too. Hence the bank should go ahead with the change.
  • The change being made might also end up as optimizing the current algorithm and automating the current process.

So while keeping in mind all the ITIL guiding principles, we can say that this change is a good move.
