Gender is reinforced by pattern of interactions in society through our everyday lives. Society has taught people how to act around people and this is how we live our daily lives. People learn patterns of interactions in society as thdy grow older, how their parents treat each other, how children treat their Parents etc. So when people grow up and we live, we rely on these patterns of interaction.
Transgender identities disrupt fixed notion of sex and gender because they reveal what people are not used to. Many people are not used to transgender identities and that is why they disrupt fixed notion of gender and sex.People are used to two categories of gender such as male and female and become confused when transgender identities come into play. This is because they challenge the normal two get gender system and they do not follow the 'norm'.
Gender ranking means when we try to value a certain gender over other. Gender ranking reinforce sexism because it can make a certain gender not feel equal or valued. An example of this is the fact that men still often get paid more in the same job than women.
