The United States has been experiencing a dramatic spike in opioid use and overdose in the past few years, tied, in part, to prescription pain medication use. Concerns have been raised that the country has not responded quickly enough to this crisis. What role do you see for psychologists and those in related fields in halting this epidemic?

The role of psychologists and those who are related to this field is pretty important,They need to come forward and raise this issue in front of the Government to take strong and counter measure to insure a decline in such cases. Because a rise in opioid usage and overdose have seen a rapid growth Among the youths as well. Their addiction to these kind of stuffs is a serious issue for the Country's upcoming future as well.

Psychologists and Responsible authorities have to design a road map as well for the country about Raising awareness about this among the Youths and encourage them to join Camps and take help of Psychologists to overcome their addiction problem.

We need to be more carefull about prescribing medicine because the pain killers are being used in excess as well. Excess intake of Cough syrups are also being used as Drugs. We need to deal this whole issue with more proactive measures because we can't afford any loose ties regarding this issue.
