•Do you feel that juvenile delinquency issues should be addressed by the threat of corporal punishment? Why or why not?
I do not feel that juvenile delinquency needs to be addressed with the threat of corporal punishment as corporal punishment can do more harm than good. Persons with juvenile delinquency display anti social and aggressive behaviour, and also lack remorse or guilt to a large extent. Fear of punishment or other consequences is not going to help them or reduce their aggressive behaviour as these delinquents have time and again been jailed or arrested, but it has not helped them. Moreover, treating aggression with aggression is not a good idea as it can make them even more against the society and aggressive. Research has shown that corporal punish increases violence in individuals and also shows that it is alright to be violent and encourages violence. Corporal punishment also does not have any value and is emotionally damaging for children and adolescents as it leaves permanents emotional scars on them. For these reason many country have banned corporal punishment in schools.
