Use as few 3-input NOR gates as possible to design a bubble detector circuit for 8-bit thermometer code. An
n-bit thermometer code represents an integer m, with m 1s followed by (n-m) 0s. 1-bit bubble is an error in
coding when a solitary 0 (or 1) is found in between two 1s (or 0s). Implement using structural verilog. Please do not answer unless familiar with Xilinx and verilog.

b. Copy the text below into your program. /*

* Purpose: Read a 0V-5V value from analog pin A1

* and convert it to a 10-bit (0-1023) number. */

void setup() {

Serial.begin(115200); //set serial comm to 115 kbps }

void loop()

{ int pot_val; //input - potentiometer value

// analogRead() converts 0V-5V to 0-1023 pot_val = analogRead(1);

//read from Analog pin 1 Serial.println(pot_val); //print to serial monitor }

c. Add the function delay() from lab0 to make the readings 1x per second.

d. Write code to display formatted output on the serial monitor as shown below:

Voltage Integer Binary HEX

0.406 83 1010011 53

0.415 85 1010101 55 ...

(ii) Write a formula for converting an integer value (0 to 1023) to an analog voltage, where 0V corresponds to integer 0 and 5V corresponds to integer 1023.

MATALB MATALAB

Getting 4-of-a-kind

Consider the following experiment:

oYou draw 5 cards from a deck of 52 cards. This is considered a single experiment. If you get 4-of-a-kind the experiment is considered a "success".

oYou repeat the experiment N=100,000 times, keeping track of the"successes".

oAfter the N experiments are completed count the total successes, andcalculate the probability of getting4-of-a-kin

Mars Climate Orbiter engineering failure vs very  successful  Mars Exploration Rovers missions

Investigate the failed Mars Climate Orbiter mission by doing your own on line research and by reading pages 160-161 in the textbook(engneering fundemental by Saeed Moaveni) in advance of the lecture on chapter 6. Write a 2-page paper that summarizes what happened. In this paper explain the follow-on precautions that were taken to prevent a re-occurrence of the same issues, which led to the three enormously successful Mars Exploration Rovers - Spirit and Opportunity and the recent Curiosity Rover Mission. Explain how the Spirit and Opportunity missions and the Curiosity Rover mission compared to the Mars Climate Orbiter mission from an engineering perspective, especially relating to Chapter 6 in the textbook. (We will have just covered Chapter 6 the day the assignment is due, but just consider the importance of correct engineering units, as we have already discussed in class). DO NOT WAIT TO BEGIN YOUR WRITE-UP until we cover Chapter 6 on 10/4!!! Also consider other key engineering issues studied in the Chapters 1-5 including engineering ethics, engineering communications, and engineering design. Give specific examples in all cases that identifies the engineering practices that worked along with those that did not work (and why). Include a MLA-formatted reference list and in-text citations. If you are unfamiliar with MLA see this site for help. The MLA source list does not count towards the 2-page write-up page limit. You should cite the textbook and the on line sources included in the assignment, plus any others that you use. Use the proper MLA format for on line sources and textbooks and in-text citations.

(Steps)Plot a stress-strain curve using Matlab(cross sectional area 30 mm^2)

Force (kN) Strain
8.59E-02 0.000054
2.55E-01 0.000054
2.82E-01 0.000054
2.95E-01 0.000054
3.09E-01 0.000054

Step 1:Divide the applied force by the cross-sectional area to be able to get applied stress ?. Also, convert to MPa.

2. Graph the stress-strain curve with strain as the abscissa and stress as the ordinate.

3. Make sure to label the axes with the variable (? or ?) and the correct units.

4. Add a title.

5. Calculate and label the yield stress ?? and ultimate stress ?? on the stress-strain curve.

6. Compute the elasticity ? in GPa. Do this by solving for the slope of the initial linear portion of the stress-strain curve. Please label it on the curve.
