Can you please explain this topic ?
Optic switches and modulation
It refers to a coherent optical trans-receiver (which is easily pluggable) that uses coherent modulation and is basically used in applications relating to high-bandwidth data communications. The Optical modules (i.e. Switches) generally have an electrical interface on one side that connects to the interior of the system and an optical interface on the other side that connects to the external world through a fiber optic cable. Specifically, the coherent optical modules can either be plugged into the front panel socket or can be plugged on-board socket. It can be said that The Coherent optical modulation system form a small piece of a huge optical module industry.
Coherent modulation techniques include Dual Polarization Quadrature Phase Shift Keying (DP-QPSK) and QAM-16. We very well know that PSK, phase-shift keying is a digital modulation process that gives data by modulating the phase of a constant frequency reference carrier wave. This modulation is accomplished by varying the sine and cosine inputs as required. PSK is largely used for wireless LANs, RFID and Bluetooth communication.
