F26BP is actually Fructose 2,6-bisphosphate. Fructose 2,6-bisphosphate, is a metabolite that affects the activity of the enzymes allosterically. Phosphofructokinase and F26BP regulate glycolysis and gluconeogenesis. F26BP itself is synthesized and broken down by the bifunctional enzymes.
F26BP helps in glycolysis by activating the breakdown of the glucose through allosteric modulation(activation).
