Answer to the question:

In regression analysis we generally come across two type of variables; viz, Dependent variable and Independent variable.Independent varibles are the variables which are changed and manipulated by the researchers and the effect of these variables are measured and compared.

On the other hand, Dependent variable is one which is represented as a function of one or mare independent variables. As the name suggest, dependent variable is dependent on the other variables called the independent variables. For simpicity let use consider the following model in its general form:

Here, Y is the dependent variable and X and Z are the independent variable. A change in the X and Z causes the Y to change. In the linear form the model can be represent as:

The intensity of impact of X and Z on Y are shown by the coefficient α and β.

Now come to the point, Independent variables are known by its different names such as regressors, exposure variable, manipulated variables etc. because of its characteristics. On the other hand dependent variablesare known as response variable, regressand, explained variable, response variable etc.

Without expsure or independent variable, we cannot measure the cause of variation in the dependent variable. To measure the cause of variation of the dependent variable, we need to analyse the independent variables. By regression we get to know how much of the variation in the dependent variable is explained by the independent variable. Also, we can know the nature of relationship of the dependent variable with the independent variable.

Respond to the following: An acquired immune response necessitates exposure to an antigen. This initial exposure does not always elicit a leukocyte attack but does program central memory and effector memory T-cell. The innate system is responsible for triggering an adaptive response; the reduction of antigens terminates the immune response. As the infection is eliminated, the quantity of antigens begins to decline. This creates competition between lymphocytes and reduction of new lymphocyte differentiation.
