A: A new line manager who is responsible for recruiting, selecting and inducting staff must be given adequate training and support in product knowledge of the organization for the induction process, company processes and procedures for recruitments, any laws governing recruitment and selection like the equal employment opportunity, disability law, anti-discrimination law, and all other employment related laws such as the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), etc. The new line manager will also require training in soft skills and will require a lot of initial handholding and support to learn on the job.

1. Classroom training - This will provide a clear picture on the laws, procedures and processes of recruitment and selection. Classroom method training is the most popular and widely used form of training. It has a small classroom size with interactive and personalized training sessions along with use of audio-visual equipment to facilitate.
2. On-the-job training - also known as hands-on training guides and shows team members how and what to do through practical, real life situations. On-the-job training is quicker and well received as it is gives an opportunity to practice and learn along the way. During this phase, employees are given scope for learning through trial and error.
3. Coaching and mentoring - This provides a new line manager to get the necessary training, guidance and motivation through a senior more experienced team member and learn through them.
4. Job shadowing - This allows for a less experienced employee to follow and learn from a senior employee during their work routines and to study how they are dealing with others in different situations to get first hand knowledge and experience.
5. E-learning - Through various online/digital training programmes specially designed and tailormade based on the training plans and requirements.
