Explain your General Electric company’s sustainability strategy, who is in charge, what are their goals?
Sustainable strategy of GE is to align its business strategy so that social needs are met in such a manner that social development is advanced in a holistic manner while ensuring that environmental impact of the company’s operations is minimized. The company has been following the principle of ‘ecomagination’ since 2005. Ecomagination is a GE concept in which ecology is combined with imagination. As such GE focuses its research and development (R&D) capabilities with an eye on developing sustainable business practices and practices that do not have a negative impact on the environment.
COE of GE – Mr. H. Lawrence Culp Jr. – is in charge of the company’s sustainable strategy.
The goals of the company are to minimize their environmental footprint and carbon footprint for all their activities. The company’s goal is to make its manufacturing practices green and to ensure that its practices do not have a negative impact on the environment and the ecology. For instance the company is also minimizing its use of fresh water for its production processes.
