Expert Solution

  • 1)It is a very paradoxical concept. On a macroscopic level, it is evident that free will exists. If you want to move a limb, you can. Your brain controls it. So I ask you to move any limb you want to. The reason why you are moving a limb right now is because I have asked you. Which one? Your choice. My question lacks the specification and since you have made the choice on your own, hence you have free will.
  • I believe that free will exists because the decision making phenomena is present inside my brain and those agents are not extrinsic, I consider my mind to be that phenomena which makes me in control of what I do or think.
  • Believing in free will is pragmatic. Existence of abstraction specifically in the case of free will is questionable. For example, the Copernicus effect: A man's perception makes up reality. Earlier it was believed that all planets revolve around the Earth and that was the man's reality.
  • Then, Copernicus proposed the heliocentric model, that every planet including the Earth revolves around the Sun in the solar system. This concept changed man's reality. This was a convincing theory because it was backed up with data and proof.
  • Free will's existence depends on perception, if you speculate macroscopically free will exists, on a microscopic level you probably will say that free will does not exist. Remember, reality is weaved by the perception of the mind, believe what you have to and your mind shall perceive it as reality.
