Do you believe it is possible for us to predict the actions and behaviors of another person based on their brain's structure and function?
Each person will elaborate on this differently. For example, you might choose to answer this question in regards to someone who has Parkinson's Disease, a brain tumor growing in the amygdala, retrograde amnesia, schizophrenia or has the brain of an 8 year old. Be creative! Try to use as much neuroanatomy and physiology as you can. Response must be a minimum of 150 words.
Our activities , action, behavior are controlled by the different parts of the brain.
Brain performs various functions like interpreting touch, vision and hearing, as well as speech, reasoning, emotions, learning, and fine control of movement.
Frontal lobes are the center of rational thinking and of self control. It is also understood that neurotransmitters, or brain chemicals, are responsible for our moods and of the general state that we are in.
Thesevere mental illnesses, such as Schizophrenia and Bipolar Disorder, are diseases of the brain. Lesions or damage to the frontal lobes and to other parts of the brain can and affect impulses and impulsive behaviors.
Schizophrenia is associated with changes in the structure and functioning of brain systems, including prefrontal and medial temporal lobe regions involved in working memory and declarative memory etc.
Destruction in the brain cells of different parts or degenerative changes can be results in the imparement of various functions and abilities.
While analysing these possible changes, it is possible to identify the actions and behavior of the another individual.
