This is commonly done when the preference is given to the time constraints. The main goal is to finish the work within deadline through the avoidance of the peaks and restrictions of the demand of the resources. The different steps in resource smoothing are as below=

• Making the list of the different resources that are important for the performance of different activities and look for the important ones.
• Preparation of the resource profit with the help of resource aggregation and cumulative resource requirement for different units which are plotted in the histogram.
• The highs and lows of the demand are to be fund and actions are taken to reduce the peaks and manage the lows.
• In the case of no resource limitation, demand has to be made uniform by changing the start and finish time of noncritical activities. These activities will have some float. These floats can be utilized to accommodate the start and finish of the related activities and therefore decreasing the peaks in the demand without causing the project to be delayed.
