Gender stereotypes are interwoven in fabric of almost every culture across the world since ancient times. But, now these stereotypes regarding the expected behaviors and roles of males and females are loosening up and are getting blurred. Since these stereotypes discriminate the females as they are ill treated and subjected to exploitation in many forms by the male counterparts, society lags in progress and development. In India the rising level of female education is a good example of this blurring difference. The governments initiative to educate female child by making it free till K-12 for the girls in government institutions, and policies regarding it are worth for appreciation. This has not only increased the educational level of females in India, but also isis looseni the tight hold of patriarchial society, giving more opportunities for females, and male counterparts sharing the responsibilities of caring and rearing children which were exclusively regarded as female roles before. The females are now given equal participation while decision making in families, which was an exclusive right of the male head before. Thus, educating girls are changing the mindset regarding gender stereotypes.
