Yes, I believe Tesla will become a household name in the auto industry with its elective vehicles. To achieve the affordable electric vehicle will take some time as the current investment in R&D is too much. Over the time period customer will realise long term cost advantages of the electric car and it will fit a certain segment.

  • Automobile revolution: Tesla electric vehicle price performance helps achieve lower operating costs and is a big gamechanger for the automobile sector of the world.
  • The autopilot aspect of the car makes it a big disruptor in the market & helps in creating differentiated market value and IP.
  • Electrification of cars has made it a successful product. An example would include the success of Model S & X. The model 3 gets 215 miles of range on a single charge.
  • Tesla has made electric cars look more desirable and elegant making it better than any other competitor in the market.

The simple reason this electrification, automation technology in automobiles is characterised as disruptive because of the innovation it has got to the entire transportation sector.

Tesla today enjoys a leading position in the electronic car sector because of vehicle driving range, battery cost efficiency and ton-mile per KWH. This has shown how Tesla can be a leader in the $7trillion dollar industry of transportation.

I would definitely compare it with Apple & Steve Jobs as both the leaders supported innovation, open team culture & wanted to create innovation & products which are helpful for humanity.

Tesla has inspired many new startups and companies both old and new working in the sector to adopt these technologies and bring the change necessary for the automobile industry. It has re-defined the way transportation is now perceived and has helped in bringing such innovations which may have huge research & development expenditure at present but promises to impact many communities for a longer duration.
