Do you see any connections between changing social norms and the larger, global issues that face us today?
Changes in the social norms and practices will definitely have a large level impact in a country and in the world. Whatever norms that change is because of the involvement by someone else or some other country. People keep learning from other people and try to implement whatever they do without even thinking whether that would suit their environment. For example, food habits across the globe has changed drastically. What was once considered to be healthy food is rejected now with varieties of food from across the globe with the help of globalization. The agricultural countries have opted for industrial growth thus ignoring food production that led to the increase in the prices of necessary goods and food. The changing cultural and family structure today has put the world in a great danger. Some of the countries are developed and they have very strong social support system whereas in the developing countries, people do not have that support system. If people in the developing countries choose to live like the developed countries, it might bring more trouble. Another interesting thing is that more people have started working and attained financial freedom. It has also caused more divorce which has resulted in single parent family. Children who grow up in this set-up have hard time coping up.
